I enjoy looking at flying videos so one of the things I've been
pondering is if might be a good idea to put a semi-permanent camera
mount/window at one or more locations in the plane. I'm thinking
maybe out on the wing housed like a landing light. Or possible on
the floor in the back for an unobstructed view down. You could put
in a pan/tilt/zoom web camera and run a USB cable or a "lipstick"
camera and a more conventional video cable. I assume some sort of
vibration damping would be a good idea.
An body ever tried this? Thoughts?

I've been playing with that idea as well.
I think mounting in the Landing Light well is a good idea but will probably give flare at night.
A more interesting shot will be a lipstick or ice cube camera on top of the rudder. That way you'll have the whole airplane in the foreground (with the appropriate wide angle lens). And it can be used for analysis as well.
