If your intention is to make the Cheetah go slower, the cowl flaps make
sense. As designed, there are NO over-heating problems with Grummans.
The design of the cooling air exit ramp is one of the better designs on
the entire plane. Trust me. I've tried 6 different designs for the
cooling air exit. THe stock design is the least parasitic and cooling
drag.
