Has anyone ever tried to put a HKS 700 with 60 HP in a 701? Would the
performance be severely compromised or would the plane just be a bit
slower? The HKS has a lot going for it - less expensive, light, 4
cycle, 800 TBO, and best of all 2 - 2.5 gal.per hour fuel consumption.

there is very little in performance drop or improvement from an 582 60hp
Rotax going up to a 912 80HP Rotax.
Your Climb performance two up with density altitude improves, your fuel
consumption improves dramaticly
Cruise speed at 70% power may be lower on the 912 but not much.
I have had both motors in my Airframe.
I think you would get a noticable drop in performance to the 60hp HKS.4
stroke compared to the 582 Rotax.
