Could somebody who has a WW 601XL Motor Mount in hand confirm a dimension for me...?
I'd like to get verification of the distance from "pilot hole center to pilot hole center" on 6B6-3 (the Firewall Side Stiffener).
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I've attached a couple of drawings that show exactly what I'm looking for.
I have calculated this distance needs to be 476 mm, and my pilot holes seem to bear this out.
But still, I'd sure feel better if I knew for sure what the center-to-center distance is on an actual Corvair motor mount actually is. I couldn't find this in the archives anyplace, and I don't have an actual WW motor mount in hand yet to measure for myself.
Thanks,
Pat

Pat,
The motor mount I purchased from WW was not exactly the same as the holes in
my firewall which were to Zenith spec. I called William and he said the
mounts have some spring in them and to pull it into position, it worked just
as he said. I no longer have the Corvair engine and mount so I can't measure
how far it was out but I think it was about 2 or 3mm. I decided to go with a
Continental because my family said they would not fly with me if I used the
Corvair, not because of any concern on my part.
Regards.
