It is certainly modified.
I was told that it was modified for a movie to look like a Great
Patriotic War fighter plane. Come to think of it, it does resemble a
Lavochkin quite a bit. Attached is a photo that I took of at at
Zhukovsky on August 23rd.

That very airplane is for sale in RU. It was setup that way to resemble the
Lavochkin as you stated for a movie.

Hi KP,
Do you (or does anybody) know what was the name of the movie?
Would be fun to see.
спасибо,

It was probably some sort of East German porn....with airplanes. Would that not be the best film ever!??

Filming was abandoned as the FSU ran out of funds prior to the collapse of
the USSR.
There may be footage somewhere in the Moscow Archives but I've been
unsuccessful in teasing any out.
For what its worth I don't think the subject aeroplane in this thread is one
of the ones in my photos.
I think it was modified in Lithuania a few years after the featured ones but
was possibly born
of inspiration from them..
I've seen it before in Lithuania that's for certain. The frame number would
reveal all as the aircraft
in my photos were sequentially numbered....... all constructed on behalf of
the film company.

Kwvin,
Were these 50's or Lavcohkins? Look at the tails on this and the cowlings in
these pictures. Then look at the tail and cowling on the picture of the one
on the ramp for sale. Those are no the same birds?

For those that bought these birds what was the reason to return to stock, how extensive were the mods, were they structurally sound/external only or did they effect the integrity of the airframe, would you still use them for acro in this configuration etc? How much extra weight and how much drag?
The thing is growing on me, minus the music notes on the side. Any one know the significance of those?

Thread Revival.
In addition to the unanswered questions just above a few more.
Roger, did you take that 1st thread picture or is that one you found on the Internet - that pic is being used in the sale of this plane, want to make sure I am not wasting time with a scam.
Secondly, on the Yak Census site it is stated that these planes were built in lot 32 completely separate from the original production line for the movie directly. The seller in Russia says it has never been modified which would concur but I might be losing something in the translation. I think he is just representing the plane and is not the owner. How is the turtledeck attached and is it structurally the same plane? I am seriously considering this one if we can work out the price but I am interested in 6g competition Acro and want to make sure it will stay together.
Thanks again,
Josh
