I don't know what else you would need to do to upgrae to Model III specs but thought I'd pass on how I replaced my front spar.
I used a reciprocating saw to cut out sections between each rib leaving about 2 inches of spar on either side of the rib. I then heated the spar stubs with a propane torch. The 3m grey epoxy turned to something like putty and the stubs were easily removed from the ribs. I use a putty knife to remove most of the epoxy from the ribs while it was still soft. It turned out to be much less of a job than I thought and no damage to the ribs.
