First off the Fuselage access door wasn't on my version of the plans and hadn't really noticed it until I started prereading section on installing the rear fuselage top skin. After talking with Nick the other day concerning the flap motor and control rod I decided to go ahead and add the panel now.



To begin with I saw no reason to use a hinge on the door. In the original photos they show you folding the door to gain more access. This didn't seem like a good idea so I asked that the door panel be sent WITHOUT the hinge cut out and that they delete the hinge from the order and add more nut plates, screws and A3 rivets.



Looking at the additional access granted by the door, both during construction and later for inspection, I'd strongly recommend it.
