Lynn:

While I don't know the total numbers, I Do know that there are many Lightnings that operate out of grass fields. Green Landings is a build center and they have a grass runway. In fact, friends of mine with RVs tell me that the grass helps to cut down on the gear shimmy on their aircraft, so I would imagine it would help rather than hurt.

The Lightning is a tought airplane and unless you are flying off of rocky tundra, I would expect you to be in good shape.

On Tuesday of this week I was able to fly an older Lightning (#2). Then the same afternoon I flue the New Lightning (#22). The older lightning need help with CHT, however the new lightning ran very cool. Max CHT was 295 and I tried to get it hot. I think the heating problem is fixed.

Hey Guys/Gals: I am seriously contemplating building a lightning. I live on a grass runway in FL, so I am concerned about operations off of grass. Does anyone else operate consistently off of grass?
I also wonder about CHT's on the Jabiru. I have a 601 HD which seems to have a cooling problem. I hope I have it fixed, but wonder about the Lightning?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
