Actually, during the first 40 hours you can only have one on board - FAA phase 1 regulations. Besides, I am not sure that the Arion Squirrel Works is run by a flying squirrel. He may be a ground pounder like most skunks are. Although we do know that the Arion Skunk Works is run by a flying skunk whose name is Thumper I. We will need clarification on the squirrels aerial ratings from Nick, and if it turns out that it is a flying squirrel, then he is probably known as Rocket. Y'all got that?

So would that be a T-1 Rocket?
By the way, when you were flying F-4s, were you in Nam?
My brother wanted to know…

I think it would be Rocket J Squirrel. Isn't that the name of the flying squirrel cartoon from many years ago. Seems like there was a Moose in the same carton whose name was Bullwinkle. Way more than you wanted to know, I am sure.
I flew two F-4 combat tours in Southeast Asia and racked up 351 combat missions (about 600 hours of combat time) with the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing in Ubon, Thailand. Most of my missions were into North Vietnam or northern Laos and I was there for part of 1968, '69. '70, and '71. Yep, a true Yankee Air Pirate.

( sitting in awe….)
Did you run across Gen Robin Olds while there? I hear he was a colorful guy, (to say the least…)

Buz,
I enjoy the banter and history.
I used to have a friend who flew F-4s as well and have lost contact with him. His Name is Howie Meisner Last contact with him, he was promoted to Bird. While he was Lt. Col. He was in charge of the Black Knights at El Toro. Did you know him by any chance?

Hi Scott,
I don't believe I have had the privilege of meeting Howie Meisner. But since he flew out of El Toro and since his rank was Lt Col, and then Colonel, I would guess that he was a Marine instead of Navy or Air Force. You know the old saying, "To err is human, to forgive is divine, but neither is Marine Corp policy." Having said that, below is one of my favorite Marine jokes.
Blue Skies,
Buz Rich
An Army Ranger was on vacation in the depths of Louisiana and he wanted a pair of genuine alligator shoes in the worst way, but was very reluctant to pay the high prices the local vendors were asking. After becoming very frustrated with the "no haggle" attitude of one of the shopkeepers, the Ranger shouted, "maybe I'll just go out and get my own alligator so I can get a pair of shoes made at a reasonable price!"
The vendor said, "By all means, be my guest. Maybe you will run into a couple of Marines who were in here earlier saying the same thing."
So the Ranger headed into the bayou that same day and a few hours later came upon two men standing waist deep in the water. He thought, "those must be the two Marines the guy in town was talking about." Just then, the Ranger saw a tremendously long alligator swimming rapidly underwater towards one of the Marines.
Just as the alligator was about to attack, the Marine grabbed its neck with both hands and strangled it to death with very little effort. Then both Marines dragged it on shore and flipped it on its back. Laying nearby were several more dead alligators.
One of the Marines then exclaimed, "Damn, this one doesn't have any shoes either!"
