Mi airplane is a 701, but we use as a lubricant the special grease sold to assemble the engines when they are rebuilt, the one I use is white.
Cleaning and re-greasing (sp?) is in my every year mantainance of the plane.

Now that we are building the 601 XL we are planning to make (in our lathe), where ever possible to install, some nylon or bronce bushings... Cant remember now the plans pages for the XL alerions, but will plan in advance something.

One local 701 builder made this bushings and they work great, not needed but he likes to make things, but also is very weight concern... A great piece of machinery his 701, photos soon, once its flying, he told me.

Saludos
Gary Gower.

As per other discussions on sticking ailerons recently, I don't find any recommendations in the instructions on what type of grease to use on parts like the aileron horns where they rotate and contact the supporting angles in the wings. I noticed that you need to be real careful how tight you torque the mounting bolts through the horns, but also found that normal "axel grease" gets kind of stiff in cold weather. As I put my wings together, I wonder what others are using for a lubricant on the aileron horn pivot?
