OK... from experience... we all know going to any fly-in one needs to have
their head on a swivel... However, When going to the ultra-light fields be
extra cautious... especially at Oshkosh or Sun-n-Fun. There are several
issues but here are 3 things that happen...
1 They are not under any specific control.. ie... cleared to land or talking
to anyone for that manner. Many are not even on a radio or have one for that
manner.
2 Although we all should read the NOTAMS.. many do not. So that guy in
front or behind or even off to the side may not be following the same
procedure you are. Again not talking to anyone so there are not another set
of eyes to help (this happens on the main fields as well)
3 You are mixing with some traffic that you may not be accustomed to.. ie.
I was amazed at the amount of wake turbulence there is behind a trike...
and flying behind a powered parachute can be a real adventure... practice
your flight at minimum control while doing S turns.

Excellent points! Your comments are very well placed and should be taken to heart by anyone flying into a busy pattern.
From my past experience it can be a real zoo! Back in the beginning I wanted to fly the pattern during open flying. But realized in short order that one flight in and one flight out was more than enough! With the LSA's flying in that area the overall speed has increased but it is tough being on short final with a plane (or something...) in front of you that is flying 20-25 MPH slower...and then they last short and stop! Just remember if you have to do a go-around do it on the south side of the runway!
