     Wow, lots of feedback on this  one! There's no sense having a backup you can't rely on, so I guess I'm in the  market for a reliable used ASI and ALT. Anyone with leads please contact me  off-list.

One final thought – back up electronics with electronics. One of the reasons we choose EFIS in the first place is to get away from mechanical gauges. So why add them back into the mix?  

   

Something like an MGL ALT-1 or ASI-1 from their 2.25 inch “Infinity” line will run for more than an hour on a 9 volt “transistor” battery. And/or tie them into the back-up supply for the Dynon.
