Folks,
Wings and tail are done and I pick up my 601XL fuselage this coming Friday. I also had the canopy kit on order and planned to order my canopy from Todd's canopies, but as I mentioned in another post Todd is not selling the 601XL canopies to anyone except to Zenith now. Today I spoke with Roger at Zenith and while they are looking at eventually modifying the canopy using a newer, longer version from Todd, he could not say what the timetable is for this new version, but it would certainly not be compatible with the canopy kit I intended to pick up Friday. So.. the question is should I leave this off my order for now and start construction on the 601XL fuselage banking on a different version of the canopy kit becoming available along the way? How far along can I get with the fuselage kit before I will be starting with the canopy construction? Thanks for any advice you guys can provide.

Yep, I wish had ordered a while back for that reason exactly .. buying from Zenith will be more expensive. Yesterday Todd was not willing to sell directly to me as he now has a deal with Zenith, as recently as Sun-n-Fun, to be their supplier for the 601XL canopies. When I head out there in two weeks I hope to talk with Sebastien about their plans for and price on Todd's supplied canopy.

Dave,
I worked four months (about 310 hours) on the fuselage before I did anything pertaining to the canopy, if that helps.

Hey Dave ,you have a lot of work before you will need you canopy .I have
just finished installing my canopy ,this is after the fuselage was built .In
my case the canopy can be installed just before you start on the engine and
inst. panel . Good luck DO NOT ARCHIVE

The QBKs come with the fuselage essentially complete and nothing done on the
canopy. Aside from the usual canopy "fun" I am having no special problems
building my canopy.
