Hi All,
The 6th Annual Kolb Gathering at Monument Valley is just a month away on 16-18 May 2008.
Yes, it is "Unplanned and Unorganized", but we seem to have a good time.

Contest Rules:
1. Submit your photo from past Monument Valley trips to be judged here for the awards of "Best MV Kolb Photo". Three categories have been established: Scenery, Scenery with Airplane and Scenery with Kolbers. Winners will be from each category. If you attended one of our Gatherings at MV and don’t have a Kolb, you are still a Kolber.
2. Photos have to be posted in this thread as a reply.
3. Include a short description of the photo.
4. Photos have to have been taken by the submitter or with their permission.
5. You can submit more than one photo to be judged in each of the 3 categories
6. Photos have to have been taken by someone flying at MV or building a Kolb or a Kolber or a family member of a Kolber. The intent is to judge photos taken in the Monument Valley Area, not on the way there or back to where ever you started.
7. Submit photos that are at least 600 pixels wide but not more than 2000 pixels wide.
8. All photos submitted before 2400 hours, 12 May 2008 will be considered. Results of the “Monument Valley 2008 Photo Contest” will be announced on the Monument Valley Airport flightline Friday, 16 May 2008 at 1700 hours.
Rules will be strictly adhered to in order for the winners to be declared.

This is just to help stir up the blood for those going. Took these beginning of April. Sandy and I drove our daughter's car home from Salt Lake City after seeing her off to Iraq.
Not taken during fly-in. It is an amazing place from the ground. Hope to see it from a Kolb one day. Ya'll have fun and be safe.

If you look real close I think you may be able to see a Kolb way back in the
background. This is a picture taken by my wife, Karen during our first trip
there in 2004.

Morning Gang:
Is it that time already? I just got home yesterday.....................
I did a quick scan of some old photos from past flights to MV. I guess my
favorite in this bunch is the one of us all standing under the wing of Miss
P'fer while the rain and wind turn the red dust to red glue. Arizona Dave
promptly drove his BAMH up in front of Miss P'fer, inviting all of us and a
ton of red mud to seek shelter in his motor home. Dave was quite a guy, and
Eve is an angel.

Greetings from Minnesota.
I probably shouldn't enter the attach photos in
the contest because I didn't actually take them.
They were taken by Arty Trost at MV in 2007.
These and other pictures from last year remind me
of a magnificent place, a great time and some
really neat people.

I have included one of the Judge, himself, flying his beautiful, sleek,
nimble and powerful Kolbra over the skies of Utah during one of our many
flights to that area of the country, hoping it may sway his decision for
best photo.
However, since the Judge has also contributed a photo, doubt any of us have
a chance at winning.

To keep the Contest as open as possible, I have hired the best Judges that a small amount of money can buy. Oops, I mean hire.
Although the unveiled and blatant attempt to gain favor by submitting such a beautiful photo is appreciated, my hired Judges were not swayed one way or the other.
The bar has been set very high for this Contest folks, so post your best and good luck.
(I had to use the dictionary for some of those words)

What did you do to this yoyo to make him want to kill you on take off?
Please notice the highly observant spectators on the other side of the runway. Steven Green is the only one watching the near disastor, while Karen Cottrell and John Hauck are watching Arty Trost untangle her headset cord.
