One very strong adhesive tape we use is 3M VHB (for Very High Bond). It is
great for metal to metal bonding (and just about anything else). I was told
that it is used to bond wing skins to ribs in some aircraft applications.
It is very thin too...

I'm familiar with these products. We use them in various
places around RAC.
