This is more of a caution than a stay away warning. When you order from ACS it seems you have to be very explicit about what you want them to do. I have learned that they will do a few things you don't expect if you don't tell them not to.
I ordered fabric a while back and I simply ordered the amount I needed plus about 15%. It never occurred to that they would supply many pieces. Some were too short to do wing panels, which was my intent. So I discussed it with them and ordered some additional fabric, not wishing to send the previously supplied back as I expect I'll use it. I specified no piece shorter than 15 feet figuring that even an error measuring would yield a usable piece. They in turn suggested that I specify a single piece, which was fine.
I specified that it must be shipped by Canada post and was advised that they didn't think it could go that way because of new rules and the length, could they fold it? I figured a gentle fold carefully packed would not create many more wrinkles than I had experienced with the re-rolling they had done previously so I said that would be fine. Well, they didn't just fold it, they folded, refolded and folded again yeilding a 4"x8" bundle about 5" thick and wrapped tightly in plastic. I figure this is a remarkable feat for 10 yards of med fabric.
So, totally my fault, but I never would have expected anyone to do this. I'll use it but the job just got a little harder.

Missed a "1". Bundle was 14" long not 4". Still a tight little package.

I've ordered a lot of stuff from Spruce over they years, and never had
any trouble. In fact a couple times I ordered stuff that was clearly my
own mistake yet they still exchanged it with no hassle.

I'm certain that's true. I have ordered numerous times and gotten what I
ordered. In fact I got exactly what I ordered this time. The problem was
mine, I simply didn't allow for how my request might be interpreted. I'm
sure they would take it back if I wanted to raise a fuss, I'll manage. (I
still can't believe they did it this way!)

Last time I ordered from them C I had about 2 lbs of parts C pluss 2 yds of uncertified fabric for a patch job I did. They shipped the parts seperate from the fabric and shipping was around 12 for the parts. The fabric was folded up to about the size of a dish towel C it cost 8 dollers and change C and the shipping was 9.50. The box weighed more than the fabric. I called them and complained and they credited me the shipping on the fabric box. Jim Chuk Kitfox 4 Mn

Yeah, it's a bit wierd some times. I bought a 6x6" piece of nylon, which they
say is the standard size, yet the price is per sq./ft. so when you order
you have to enter the quantity as .25
Also when you order a 4x8 sheet of aluminum the shipping is truck
only, unless you call and say 'roll for shipping' then it goes UPS ...
If in doubt the phone is my fall back solution ...
Regards,
Jeff

Dave, I posted this letter to our RAA list last fall. I buy 98 % from Leavens now and always. I did try ACS in Toronto last year and they sucked. IF the product they sent was free I would not deal with them again. Once bitten , twice shy.

I posted comments on this earlier this year after dealing with Aircraft Spruce in Toronto earlier this year and last year.
They are nice people there but I found they lacked inventory and have to wait for stock and some alum stock it took a month and a half to get it due to how they get it from their warehouse.
2024 came not plastic backed and was in poor shape. I think the .020 was like 20$ cheaper a sheet than leavens but I will never buy it from ACS again . This problem might be rectified by now but I doubt that I would try them again because of this. Although I might try some shelf stock of product other than Aluminum. They just said well this is the way we get it. Well that is the way you can keep I said.
Leavens is better quality and faster service as usual over the year.
Only thing Aircraft spruce did is make Leavens pricing better in my opinion. Call today get tomorrow!! Plus RAA members get a further discount , make sure you mention RAA.

They've always been good to me David! And even better these days. I was amazed at how low pricing was for my last order of oil and air filters and misc hardware. Couldn't shop at Spruce for the pricing I got.

Wow..hats off to Leavens ...again. Just a small order placed yesterday via phone from
Ottawa and returning home today after lunch the order was at my door via Purolator
with shipping only twelve bucks. You can't beat that with a stick.
Less than 24 hours service with very reasonable pricing on parts and shipping.
