|
|
Dear Europa Family,
Maybe somebody can help me.
In my Europa I have installed a KX 125 Com/Nav System.
For this I need urgently 2 antenna connectors, just only the nice little connectors which go on the antenna calbles.
The normal aircraft equipment supply shops do not have them.
Now I have asked a proper aircraft maintenance shop and they are asking
$ 50,20 per item for the connector and $ 10,00 per item for a ring to fix the connector.
That’s 120,20 dollar just for connecting the antenna cables.
I’m a little bit confused about this “medical care” prices.
Are these prices correct or is there somewhere a source, where I can get them cheaper?
Many thanks for inputs.
Best Regards,
Bruno

It is likely that the connectors you are looking for are BNC, 50ohm and
are readily available from electronic Hobby Stores for a couple of
pounds sterling.
Suggest you google for BNC connectors on the Internet and have a good
look at photos to confirm.
In the UK I'd likely source these from Maplin, www.maplin.co.uk or RS
Components, rswww.com and these sites certainly have snapshots to
confirm the type

Bruno-
I saw someone respond that they were probably BNC connectors. I expect that that is the case. You can buy "solderless" BNC connectors also; I would discourage you from using them. Use only solder type. If you have any friends who are radio amateurs, they can probably help you install them on the cables. If not, you should be able to find instructions for installing them with a Google search. Installing a BNC is a little tricky, but a piece of cake for anyone who can build a Europa. In the US, the connectors sell for about $3.00 each. They are decidedly not expensive.

Might I suggest you take a piece of the cable with you when you go to buy them, as there are different sizes
to accomidate the different size co-axial cable (the end the that attaches to the cable that is, not the push on and turn bit that fits onto the radio back)
if memory serves the cables are 5mm (probably what you have) 8mm and 10mm (not likely you have this cable, its really heavy and hard to bend)
