Quote: | In trying to complete an older 601 project, where can a schematic or
flow diagram be found for the wing tanks, fuel pump and that funny
looking rectangular gascolator with a total of 4 tapped holes?? I'm
confused and not making much headway helping my buddy. Thanks.

Back in the old days when I bought my HD kit, there wasn't much of a fuel
system design available. The intention was to have a header tank only.
Standard brass fittings controlled the gravity fed line to the carburetor.
The Zenith homemade gascolator you describe allowed for a 110 fuel drain
plus lines in and out. I have two if you need more! Even after ZAC started
selling wing and leading edge tanks, it was a while before ZAC provided a
fuel system design. I ended up designing mine and sending it snail mail for
review by Chris Heintz. Chip Erwin's Chech Airworks also provided their
design. Now, you can find the latest thinking on the Zenith web site in the
builder's area. Depending on the age of the project, there may not have
been any fuel system design provided with the kit, particularly if it is an
HD or HDS. There is a lot of fuel system design information and a gauge of
how hard it was to design your own in the Zenith List archives. Many
builders end up using the Andair selector valve.
