This may not apply here but I had loud static that  developed a while back that I couldnt find problem, then by accident I turned  the vol contr down on 

 Nav side (KX124) and noise gone. havent fixed as I  never use Nav side. Also couple weeks ago I got a  loude noise in  earph as soon as I started take off, traced to Icom, problem turned out to be  girlfriend had hung her head set on my 296 on panel and when I took it off and  hung it on back hook noise  gone.
