I know that this has been discussed a while back, but there are a lot more planes out there now and a larger experience base.
Most people seem to put the Pitot in the bay one rib inside or one rib outside the aileron push rods. This is logical, but a bit difficult for maintenance. Especially with the more complex Gretz heated pitot unit. What have been your experiences??
What about positioning the Pitot just inside the wing tip? Ron H. had one positioned outboard like that at OSH. It would have great access for maintenance (just remove the 42 wingtip screws). Would this location induce any airspeed errors. Ditto for the placement of the AFS purchased AOA system?
