Mike,
I have the Gretz pitot tube and here are a few photos of where I installed it and the controller board. As you can see from photo 2 it's right near the tie down ring. It's very easy to access, just take off the inspection plate and reach in. I've not had any difficulty with it being placed here.

I know that this has been discussed a while back, but there are a lot more planes
out there now and a larger experience base.
Most people seem to put the Pitot in the bay one rib inside or one rib outside
the aileron push rods. This is logical, but a bit difficult for maintenance. Especially
with the more complex Gretz heated pitot unit. What have been your experiences??
What about positioning the Pitot just inside the wing tip? Ron H. had one positioned
outboard like that at OSH. It would have great access for maintenance (just
remove the 42 wingtip screws). Would this location induce any airspeed errors.
Ditto for the placement of the AFS purchased AOA system?
All input is appreciated........

Several people also moved it out to the second bay or so from the wingtip. This makes it very accessible.
