				All-
Does anyone have a lead on bezels for 3-1/8" steam gauges? To put it simply, a trim ring?
I'm installing used Cessna gauges that back mount and no matter how close the cut, you wind up with an ugly area around the ring that shows through the panel. Truth be told, I got heavy handed with my file.
I know, I know, this is purely cosmetic but I have to stare at the panel for a long time and if there's a way of cleaning things up I can buy off the shelf, I'll do it. If not, I'll fabricate something.

				Bill,

If you have a fly cutter and a drill press you can make what you need. Clamp piece of metal to plywood, clamp plywood to drill press. Cut inner hole the size of gage o.d. Reset cutter larger and gently cut the bezel. Make sure to keep the center pilot tight. I use a dowel pin for the center of my fly cutter.

Clean off the burrs and glue in place.

				Ron-
Since no one has a lead to off the shelf bezels, I'm trying to figure a
way to make the bezel without gluing it. I'll get it, but not in a hurry.

Stick some plastic wrap over the face of the instrument and stick it
in the hole. Then mix up some epoxy and fill the gap around the bezel
with it. When you remove the instrument and clean up the opening, you
should have a perfect fit to the instrument face. I can't say how well
it would work, but it might be worth a try.

The best way to avoid this problem is to use an knock out punch to
make the instrument holes. These are available for both 3 1/8 and 2
1/4 inch instruments. I borrowed a set from one of the members of my
 local EAA chapter.
