Hi Mark,
I was in Bogata Columbia at the time and these
"newbees" were at the computer terminals openly
talking and planning their Columbian drug and arms
busts. You could just "read" them. The one with his
own computer obviously had the data to steal. The 2
"off duty Marines" looked like they were ready for
inspection. The guy in the loafers was a desk jock
and not a "field" agent. Can't run in those shoes and
laces can come in handy for other things. The one (1)
who was all nervous and tried to blend in was
obviously on point.....under cover, except to a 5 year
old.... With this group behind him, he had reason to
be nervous.
Saw maybe 10 in a group out for dinner the night
before, another group at the bar, and then this bunch
at the hotel computer terminals. Few showed any
attempt to blend in at all.
We felt a little too close to the "target" for those
who would like to stop these agents. I mean Amatures!
You'd think they could at least try to blend in and
keep their mouths shut in public.... Watch "Clear and
Present Danger" to see which vehicles they drove too.
Guess I am just grumpy in my old age, but it sure was
not an impressive show. I felt like asking the group
at the bar if they had ever been to Quantico, or did
they just take the correspondence course?
I wish our enemies were this obvious.
Do you know what I mean, Mark from MD?
Sorry for the off topic point y'all, but it was funny
to watch, in a way.

So much for covert ops, huh Kurt?!
Maybe they were just tryin' to impress the chicks at the bar...
My brother flys full time on C-130's with the Air Guard. They regularly do a rotation down in Columbia, and according to him it's like being in a war zone down there with all the drug interdiction stuff going on.
