To the list for a quick reply if anyone is listening .......

AN3--5A bolts hold the CD4's and CD5's to the footwells but there seems to be no guidance as to what holds the CD4' and 5's to the duct.

So what have others used please?

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /><![endif]--> Sorry about that, I'll put it in to the next revision.

Typically I use AN 3-3A or -4As depending on the shank requirement.

Here is the trick. I sometimes use the AN-4 through the glycol cooler for the front hole support on the stbd side and will generally now put a nut plate in the aft side and the port side. The oil cooler is narrow enough that if you choose wisely all will clear. But make sure that the end of the bolt does not contact the coolers. If you choose to put nuts and bolts on, make a thin 3/8 wrench and put the bolt in from the inside There is just enough room to put a thin wrench in between the duct and cooler. Because I am lazy I make a hole in the stbd bracket like in the port side to inspect my radiator hose.

Why use nut plates? Because I have a 914 and you have to pull the duct down to do almost anything on a turbo. Besides, if the duct is easy to remove, it pays dividends when you have to do modifications or just want to clean up the engine for an inspection. Same way for the footwells... I put nut plates in everything. Once the interior is in, I don't want to rip it out because I have the desire to fiddle with my engine.

Any other ideas?
