Bill C

Any chance of posting photos?  Sure C 2 ways.  As Dennis Hopper said in Waterworld "No way and No how"!   (ah C just kidding!!)

Okay.  Here's a couple of pictures of my plane last year.  This is my MkIII Classic C which has undergone some minor changes like; half of fuselage redesigned C Kolb MkIII Xtra nosecone C my own steel legs C my own custom built doors C and a couple of other changes.

Since these photos were taken C I have virtually finished the turbo installation on my GEO engine (I just need to finish rehooking up the gas tanks) C finished ALL Poly Fiber and white Poly Tone paint. (I'm waiting on the final reinstallation of the wings to do the stripes)   I've finished building my forward mounted instrument panel C but haven't mounted it C yet.

  Photos attached!

Mike- Looking good! I see what you mean about the wheel angle. How long before you are in the air?
I was going to ask for photos of your legs, but too much chance of being misunderstood!

Bill C

Recently C I finally managed to start building my (last!!!) house. (next to my hangar/apartment C on my 3 acre parcel C near the local airport 1200 feet away)
Anyway C the house construction really puts a damper on my plane progress.  After working on my house all day C I don't have much to give to airplane building.  I'd really like to get back to working on it C but that depends on how long I feel worn out on the house.  I ain't no spring chicken C and physical labor takes it's toll on me.

If I were to guess.....I bet I could finish my plane in two months of solid building time.  I hope to get back to work on it as soon as I can.

Best regards C

Thanks Chris C

Hmmm?  I'm not sure.  Maybe closer to a Classic Xtra.  So far C I've just referred to it as "CX".  But C the fact is C only the purest Kolbers would be able to tell that it wasn't born an Xtra.  The changes I've done leave little resemblance to its old heritage C and about 98% toward an Xtra.

The tail boom idea came from "Uncle Craig" Nelson.  Yes C it is VERY handy.  The little castoring pneumatic tires (Harbor Freight) allow for easy movement C and are big enough to not get stuck on pebbles.  The cradles C that the wings rest in C rock a little C to allow for even weight distribution.
My total cost in the project ran me $75.  Parts list available on request!

BTW C after making a set front wheel dolleys C (and they were too small) I redesigned and built a very nice second set of steel front wheel dolleys.  They work much better than my first prototype set.
(If you use small castors C they hang up on little rocks and concrete bumps C and flip over.  I did 'em right the second time around.

Now C 360 degree movement of the whole plane around in my hangar is as it should be....easy.

Your plane is looking real good Mike, you have done a great job reproducing and welding the tubes to make the change to the MK III Xtra. I also like the boom dolly, just dont forget to remove it before you take off, or you are in for one wild ride Shocked

I really like your aileron cable conversion, I may do that to my Kolb one day. Can you post pictures of your aileron pulleys, their attachments, and how you connected the cables to the ailerons themselves ?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike

How did you run the cable that connects the ailerons together? Herb
