Rivet length with .125 angle on 701

I upped the ad5-6 to ad5-7, the avex I left the same. Spar web .025, +Cap .125 =grip lenght .150. + .156 rivet dia x 1.5= .234+.150=.384 which is a touch short for a -6 rivet. When riveting I didn't pay so much attention to the height as long as the shop head was 1.5 times the rivet starting diameter. The cabin sides are .032 material and the -6 is way too short.

Aircraft Sheet Metal by Jeppesen and AC43-13B are both good reference and procedure books.

I should have said .384 is a touch LONG for a -6 rivet. The .040 strut/web spar doubler makes the 7/16 long rivet near perfect length.

Zenith construction standards will also give the added length required for a given rivet diameter. do not archive.
