I've been having problems getting a good signal on my satellite weather receiver. I downloaded a data-logging file of my last flight and sent it to Grand Rapids for analysis. They said that I'm only getting a good signal when facing a heading of 25 to 75 degrees.

I have a 7A with a slider, and have mounted the satellite antenna on the glare shield, right up against the windscreen. It's next to my GPS antenna and I have no problems signalwise with it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where to mount the antenna for a better view of the sky?

Try just moving it away from the GPS antenna....that may be the whole problem.

Tim, ok I'll move it and see what happens. Thank you. But for my education, why would proximity to my GPS antenna create a problem?

Well, it's been seen before with other antennas on the glareshield,
where even a 496 antenna may interfere with another antenna. And
and active antenna may actually be putting out a bit of noise.
Yeah, it's receive only, but it's just not unheard of that the
antennas can interfere. When I went to install my Wx and GPS
antennas on the cabin top, they specified 12" minimum separation
between them in the install docs. I'm not saying that for your
particular case that it will fix it....but it's a real quick
thing to test before you get too far into tearing things up.
