Sometimes the comments on this list have a more far-reaching application than
one might imagine. I've been arguing with myself on when I needed to buy
avionics, since I suspect it may be easier to install before zipping things
up.
I'm planning on making the upper surface of the panel removable, so access is
more a matter of convenience than impossibility. Based on that, and the
comments about how rapidly avionics change (which I knew, but I guess it
needed reinforcing), I'm pretty much convinced to hold off until everything
else is done.
I'm talking about the GPS, the radio, and the transponder. I have an
altimeter, ASI, and similar steam gauge instruments on hand, so they can be
installed much earlier.
