Although we had some afternoon showers, overall the weather today was good. Major events for today were the mass arrivals for Bonanzas and Cessnas. There was a bit of a cross wind on the arrival runway (36) but they all made it down OK. However one homebuilt (looked like an RV from where I was) ground looped earlier in the day and did some gear damage. The airplane was hauled away on a trailer.
Saw Greg and Crystal Hobbs (the Arizona Lightning dealer) this afternoon, then later saw them again when I found where the SYI group was camping. All seemed to be having a good time, but I was wet and cold from one of the afternoon showers so didn't stay long enough to sample any of the beverages that they were busy doing quality testing on. Maybe later.
The north forty is full along the south side of 09/27, and many more homebuilts have arrived. The warbird area seems to be down on total aircraft, but there is still one full day to go before the show starts. The ultralight area is way down on aircraft.
And now the big news - there is a Lightning parked in the homebuilt camping area. If I am remembering the N number right it belongs to Bill Hubbard. Bill was the first builder to fly his Lightning to Oshkosh and is the first to arrive this year. Congrats, Bill. Well done.
Blue Skies,
Buz
