Quote: | I live on a major 4 lane Federal highway 10 miles from a city of 300,000
and 4 miles from a small community that's had broadband for at least 5
years. Broadband 1st became available to me about 1 year ago. I spent
years begging, pleading, talking to every supplier, including Cell tower
providers, I could contact. No joy on any of them until last year. Here
are some statistics. Until about 2 years ago, less than 50% of the
addresses in the USA had access to broadband in any form except
satellite. It's much better now; 70% of the country can now access
broadband. (Listers in backwater places like Europe and Japan only have
90-99% coverage; poor guys...)

Hey, this opens up all sorts of new topics: the limitations of the
capitalist
economic model; whether and how government should intervene (e.g. rural
electrification in the Depression); and whether the US should or should not
become more like Europe and Asia.
Or not. I myself would love to debate all that stuff, but not here. Guys
and gals, I hardly look at VAF anymore for all the fluff on it. So far
these Matronics lists have a very high tech to fluff ratio, can we keep
it that way, thanks much.
