The answer on the scribe lines on gear leg fairings comes from Ken Scott at Van's:

Some fairings have them, some don't. I think it depends on the condition of the mold when they are laid up. It really doesn't make much difference, as it turns out. Trim the fairing to fit between the fuse and the wheel pant. As long as it's symmetrical between sides, it will work.
The inter. fairings can cover whatever space you leave.
