Last July I prepared my RV-10 for landing on a grass strip and wanted to share an item I believed to be helpful.

I have 325 hrs on the aircraft and decided to check the nose strut for proper adjustment. With a caliper and using one of the previously discussed techniques for lifting the nose I measured the length of the compression structure (mooney pucks) with the nose loaded and unloaded. It was quite easy and showed that there was .200 inches of slop. I shimmed out .190 leaving .010" to install the cap and bolt.

This raised the tip of my prop over 2" providing what is probably the design ground clearance. The plane looks perfectly level.

Its just something to address once in a while and could also be valuable for a hard landing on any surface.
