Hi guys,
I'm asking if any of you are using a Windows 7, 64-bit system for
posting and
searching this site and having trouble with it or other serious programs.
Hope you find this a proper question for the forum, but I'm thinking of
replacing my
old Gateway XP system from 2001. It's maxed out and slow enough that
some of my
serious programs bottom the CPU and the 512K memory. This machine can go
no further without a move to the "next great thing". Should I be
concerned about 64-bit
or Windows Pro 7 for the Matronics site?

I have upgraded my Home PC and Laptop to Windows 7 Professional without any problems with most of my Apps that ran on Windows XP except Windows XP is not upgradeable. It's a new install of OS and apps then restore your data. It was an easy upgrade not like the problems encountered in Vista. Hope this helps

In terms of accessing Matronics (vie e-mail or a web browser) you shouldn't
see any difference between 32 bit or 64 bit Windows (or even an entirely
different operating system like Linux or the Mac OS). You might see a
difference due to getting a new version of web browser bundled with the new
computer but most web sites tolerate recent versions of the major browsers
like Internet Explorer or Firefox.
You can easily test this - just go to your local computer store and log on
the Matronics site with your name and password. Just don't let the browser
remember your name and password and close the browser after your test. If
you are truly paranoid set a temporary password at home before you go to the
store to test.
For other applications (e.g. CAD) just ask the vendor or check their web
site.
