Folks:
Here is a short note and photo of an old friend to old and new Kolb
Aircraft, Howard Levy. I had the pleasure of flying Howard in the old
factory MKIII many times at Lakeland and Oshkosh.

In 1989, Howard came to the Flight Farm at Monetrey, NY, for their annual
flyin. He flew in Al Carpenter's two place Maxair to take air to air photos
of my Firestar, the 1988 Sun and Fun Grand Champion Ultralight, a week
before this same little airplane flew on over to Oshkosh to pick up a Gold
Lindy as the 1989 Oshkosh Grand Champion Ultralight. I flew 3,000 statute
miles on the flight to Homer Kolb's, The Flight Farm, all the New England
States, Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, and Sault Saint Marie, Canada, across
the UP of Michigan and south into Oshkosh. From Oshkosh another 1,000 miles
home to Alabama. All in front of a dual point ignition 447 single carb
Rotax, with a sectional and a mag compass, and no ground crew.
BTW: Al Carpenter was a Naval Aviator who was a POW for many years during
the Vietnam Warm.
Howard was 88 years old and never quit working. He was at Oshkosh last
year, and I bet he was getting his camera stuff ready to go to Lakeland in
two months.
