Anyone out there have any useful tips on how to do the final fitting of the Horizontal Stabilizer? How far fore/aft it should be. Any pictures of of the attachment bolts would be appreciated, seems like there is a good deal of play. Any special techniques to make sure that you got it parallel to the longeron and equidistant from the center. This seems like it could be a real PIA if your floor isn’t good and level and such.
Please send pics of your bolts, are there any other considerations?

Michael,
The way the horizontal stabilizer attach brackets are made makes locating it left and right automatic. For fore and aft location, just center the forward stabilizer attach bracket on the fuselage attach bracket (see photo). The fuselage upper longeron must be level, fore and aft, and right to left. Level the stabilizer left and right. The second photo shows two clecoes in the outermost stabilizer ribs. Those are used to level the stabilizer fore and aft. I located a spot on the centerline of the forward upper skin bulkhead, and a spot on each end of the stabilizer at the tips. Making sure those dimensions were equal assured that the stabilizer was square with the fuselage. I checked each measure several times to make sure nothing changed before drilling the pilot holes for the bolts in the attach brackets.

I have wondered If I should make the brackets a little thicker, what do others think? I thought Zenith may have made them thicker in the upgrade but they did not?

Hey Chris,
This is also on my list to upgrade as the current ones look a little anemic (like the original rear spar attach point). Although that being said I believe that the cracks seen in the rear stablizer were in the horizontal stabliser attach points not the plates that this attaches to on each side of the fuselage.
Cheers
