I have an extra hand-held GPS 310 that is the second such
radio I ever owned. In spite of dearth of gee-whiz features
it took me right over the center of many an airport.
It would make a good flight-bag back up for your
"plan-B". It is back-lit and runs on 2xAA alkaline
cells.
Would like to get $25 + postage for it.

You can get a cigarette plug power adapter for them on Ebay
