Hi All,
Andy told me that someone has fitted a second throttle lever for the left hand seat, which I would also like to do. He thought it was possibly a Europa Club official. If he is listening, could you please let me know how you rigged it and if there were any problems? I had thought of running a pushrod forward from each lever to a torque tube, but if someone has worked out a good system it would be great to know.

Thanks,
Keith Hickling,
New Zealand.
XS mono, tail done, wings nearly finished, working on cockpit module.

The builder who carried out this mod is Peter Kember. He was the first
customer to complete a Europa and has since built another one but I am
not sure whether he carried out this mod second time around. As far as I
know the mod involved moving the existing throttle rather than adding a
second one.

I remember reading a detailed article by Peter Kember in an early Europa
Club magazine, explaining how and why he did it.

Justin and Ted (G-ZTED) also have two throttles, both mounted outboard to
leave the centre consol free for maps etc. They also have a very different
retract lever. There are a few details at

Keith,

Here is a link on EuropaOwners.org of my second, left handed throttle. When
I purchased the aircraft in 2004 from Jim Nelson he had installed the
throttle. He can be reached at rv9jim(at)juno.com. If you look at the picture
you will notice the started button on the front side and on the top is a
trim switch for the NSI CAP140 prop. Note: the prop is not installed at
this time.

I'll help any way I can with questions but keep in mind I didn't make it, I
just push it back and forth.

Keith - dig out your Europa Club CD-ROM, and have a look in the
member list folder, where you should find a file called "mods.pdf".
Open it in Adobe (Acrobat) Reader and search for the string "left".
You should find 3 occurrences of it, against kits 033, 095 & 423. You
can then look up the owners of those kits in the files "kit.pdf" or
"members.pdf" by searching for those kit numbers.

No doubt you'll have replies by the time this gets posted anyway, and
there may be others whose mods have not been reported and thus not
recorded in the Club database, but always consider that the info you
seek (or the clue to finding it) just might be in one of the lists on
that CD!

regards

Rowland

Thanks Rowland - yes, as you say it's a great resource. One of the list
responses told me that Peter Kember had written about this in one of the
early club newsletters, and I managed to pull this up too.

Regards,
Keith.
