Gentlemen,

I'm in the final stages of assembling my RV-9A at the airport. I have a small heat shield part and I don't know where it goes. It may have come with the exhaust system from Van's or was part of the finishing kit. Its part number is "EA LV-1 Heat Shield" and it's not in the RV-9A parts list. It's a curved 2 x 3 shield with a bracket welded on the inside. It would be affixed to an exhaust pipe with a hose clamp - I think.

Any suggested locations? (After years of building stray pieces are now showing up!)

Joe:

That little shield is placed just as you describe in the area where the exhaust gets close to your fuel line.

Joe
The heat shields should be positioned near any heat sensitive part (ignition leads etc) that are near the exhaust piipe.  You will probably need 3 or four of them.
When I built my RV8 , I noticed that some of the ignition cables were breaking down prematurly.  The heat shields fixed the Problem.
