List member,
Having read the recent post of a MkII crash, and reading the horror of the
tail number (N408K), I couldn't believe my eyes. I recognized the tail number
and was praying I was mistaken.
In sadness I was correct, I did recognize the tail number correctly, and it
belongs to our friend, Scott Thompson. It appears that he was taking his new
MkIII Xtra on it's maiden flight, and crashed upon attempting to land it.
Some of you that went to Oshkosh may recall the beautiful Xtra that the Kolb
Company displayed; it was Scott's brand new, recently registered Xtra, N408K.
I, for one, will greatly miss my friend, Scott. Rest in peace, my friend, and
God watch over Carol and the rest of his family.
Truly a sad day!!!

Correction. I meant to say MkIII crash, not MkII.

My condolences go out to Scott's family. I would like to know the details on what might have gone wrong on landing his MKIII.

I would like to know the details on what might have gone wrong on landing his MKIII.

I'm pretty disturbed by this story, and not really functioning too well. It took me three
emails to post the best information link that I could find regarding his crash. The information
came from Carol, Scott's wife, who witnessed the crash, as she told invetigators.

Our sincere condolences go out to the Thompson family, and friends. I am sure John Hauck would like to be notified- can someone please call him? He is on the road trip.

he has his computer and has been checking in on his email on a regular basis.
