I have checked into higher comp pistons, for now I am going to stay with
the 6.5-1 pistons for two reasons 1 is to use auto gas and the
cylinders, pistons and rings only have 160 hrs on them. I did find some
10-1 pistons from a company and sent them a e-mail asking if there are
any lower comp pistons like 8-1 or whatever and got no response. If you
know of anybody providing 8-1 pistons or something in that range let me
 know.

If you do go with the Lycoming O235 check into POWER upgrades. There
 were a
few STC done to increase the compression which increases the HP. The
compression is increased by just changing the pistons.
NOW! Being EXPERIMENTAL you do NOT have to purchase the STC, only the
 pistons.

If you want more info let me know.

 Hi Steve
The engine is used, I got it from a fellow builder Robert Dingley from
Zenith builders group. Has 2100 hrs total time and 160 hrs on cylinders.
He was going to use it on a XL but decided to use a Jabiru instead. The
engine has been sitting for awhile so will take it to local aviation
collage to disassemble to inspect for rust and everything in general.

 Hey Dave,
Where did you find your 0235? Did you buy or rebuilt?
 Thank you,
 Steve Freeman
