Disclaimer: aircraft is not yet flying.
Trio doesn't seem to be advertising this much, so I thought I'd post this:
I bought the Trio system with auto trim. Per their manual, it will do the following:
auto trim when the autopilot is engaged.
Manually trim (you turn the knob) when the autopilot is not engaged.
Drive the trim at two different speeds. Fast trim when slow, slower trim when fast. I think it uses pulse width modulation. You set the speeds in the set up menu. You also set the speed (I'm guessing it uses gps ground speed) where the changeover from fast to slow happens.

Are you talking about elevator or rudder trim.

sorry for any confusion. Elevator trim. The signals originate in the elevator servo.
