Joe in Mississippi has asked an interesting question that I can't answer......How come Rotax places the senders for measuring both CHT and oil temperatures at the inlet side of the engine??
Seems like what we really need to know is the CHT and the oil temp when it is at it's hottest, leaving the engine....

The CHT does nothing, but measure the metal temp on the head. Wouldn't make that much difference where on the head it was so long as it measured head metal temp. The oil temp is picked up down by the oil filter area and I can't give you a good answer to that question. Maybe one of these other guys can.
My guess is that it is a better measure of over all oil temp than hotter oil right out of the engine, but that's just a guess.
