John,
Hold off putting rivets in the top skins until there are no more
plumbing issues, brakes, fuel, electrical
etc. I riveted the skins after the fuselage firewall and side skins
were on my 601HDS. All plumbing etc
is much easier to get at and work out. If you haven't, you might
consider the addition of nylon bearings
for the struts beneath the skin doubler and plate and on the gear boxes
as it will add considerably to the
lifespan of the bearings.

Good luck,

Hello all,
I am finishing the center wing section and nearing the last four steps of
the center wing work report of compressing the bungees. The original manual
says that everything except the top skins can be riveted at this point. Is
this correct? I could not find anything directly answering this in the
archives, and looking ahead in the plans I did not find any conflicts.
Thanks
John Lumkes

That is what I did with no problems. I still haven't riveted the top skins just in case. Of course, the soft aluminum trim between the fuselage side skins and the wing top skin has to wait also.
