I don't usually have a problem with getting the oil pressure back after an oil change, but this time I seem to have an airlock.I was going to bypass the tank and connect the in/out hoses together and crank the engine for a few seconds (I am not using ignition).
Is that okay ?
Thanks for any input.

Karl,
Follow the Rotax Service Instructions SI-912-020, SI-914-021 I get them at www.rotaxowner.com
If you introduced air into the system and do not then properly purge the system, severe engine damage could result.

Hi Kevin,
I think you meant SI-912-10. But it doesn't tell me what to do in my case. I did drain the oil from the hose coming out of the bottom of the engine, but have always done that before. I'll keep handcranking.

Hi Karl,
SI-912-018 is the what I meant to say. Purging of the lubrication system is needed if air got in the system. I've never heard of connecting the in/out hoses together as you suggest.
Perhaps your oil pressure sender is at fault?

Kevin,
Yes, that is more like it, and it has a nice diagram also. I don't have a compressor and will make a fitting using a bicycle valve.
The oil pressure reading was fine just before the oil change, so I don't think it is an instrument malfunction.
Many thanks,
Karl
