The Spot locator is pretty cool, and cheap. But how does it know you
have crashed? Don't you have to activate the emergency locate feature
manually? I can think of a lot of scenarios where you wouldn't have
time or would fail to remember while the S*** was hitting the fan!

I just moved my Sky Ranger to another airport in Montana, and flew
over the continental divide near Glacier Park. Rough country, to say
the least!! The 80 hp 912 doesn't mind 10,000 feet in the least.

Jack

Hi Jack,

The Spot can send a couple of different messages. Yes the button has to be pushed for them, but if all else fails and the big heart attack hits and you can't push the button to summon help then the little flagged locator's will be all in the same place and at least someone will know where you are. I think most times most people will be able to push the button.

If when I flew over here to Yuma, AZ I had gone down and never pressed a button the Spot would have transmitted days worth of little flags on the map right where I went down.

What did you do, turn Spot off when you crossed the border into Mexico
to get contraband? What's going on in Naco these days?

This wasn't my flight. It was a friend of mine that flew from Bisbee, AZ to Corning, CA. and then a few days later flew back to Bisbee.
