912ul engine in storage for 3to4 years. New plugs still white on even
cylinders. Plug on #3cylinder is gray and looks moist and #1 cylinder
looked whiter. Set the idle jet to 1.5 turns to star. Had the engine
oil up to 137 deg but coulden't get a smooth idle by adjusting the idle
jet. Choke (Starting Carb) was off throttle somewhere around 2400 rpm.
Minimum that I could get without the engine quitting.

The cold engine ran just a rough using the choke. Had to keep the rpm
around 2700 rpm to keep it going.

Any ideas as to what to look for?

Thanks
Ron

Ron, I had a similar problem after storing my 582. The idle passages in the carb body were plugged. Once I worked all the crud out of them the engine idled like a champ.
