Hi All,

There’s a 685 for sale, with details at:

http://clasificados.volarenvenezuela.com/index.php?page=out&id=272

A few points though.
Firstly, it isn’t a “1975” example, having been Certificated as N9205N on 01Nov72.
Secondly, the Serial Number isn’t “11272” (a 690A!), but is 12014.
Thirdly, It was exported to Venezuela in May76, but has not been cancelled from the FAA Register.
Lastly, the present Registration mark in Venezuela should strictly be presented as YV2448, not “YV-2448”.

Seems as though the price it’s available for sale at is US$60,000.

Best Regards,
Barry

Eish. That looks like it requires a serious investment. It seems more like a deal to take it away at no cost to clean up the airport.

Wow, the fuel cell have been removed (open panels on top of the wing). That alone would cost about 20K!!! I think I'll pass. jb

Did you notice it is also missing an engine, two props, all those inspection plates, fuel cells, and tail feathers? Also notice it is in Venezuela. No US Citizen would be able to go there? What about shipping the needed parts to get it out again?

Tylor,

Reliable sources have informed me that all of the referenced parts are locked safely inside the plane, and are included in the purchase price. Kindly foreword your cash, check, or money order to the seller.

If anyone is interested on this, I still have (heavily involved in aviation)
family in Venezuela.
I don't know neither the plane nor the seller, but I landed in that airport
while lost in my second solo flight in 1984. Smile

Hello All,

Just in case someone is REALLY CURIOUS ... on remarks you'll see:

"El avion se encuentra en face de overhaul total, tanto helice como motores, como estructura."

"The plane is in the process of been overhauled, props as well as engines, and structure."

Venezuela is filled (Barry would know how many) with Turbo Commanders and few pistons as well. Twin Commander has a dealership just a few miles up the road (SVCS) which has been recognized for its excellent business in a recent Commander Newsletter...

http://www.aerocentro.com/index_1024.html

Don't pay too much attention to the media frenzy about Venezuela, as a US citizen you can go there without a Visa (unlike Brazil for example). I was there on business on April of last year, great country to fly: cheap avgas!

The only issue is the 685 which as we all know is really under powered as far as piston Commanders.

May be one day when reliable 400 HP engines come out there it will be again a hot item...

Meanwhile, you can toss the dice for 60K! & bring some extra goodies to make the trip worth...

Nos vemos!

Peter

PS. have been gone to Panama, I thought I was going to post some pictures from the FLY IN... may be this next week end!
