				Hello Fellow Kitfox Drivers,
   
  I re-sloshed my wing tanks last summer. I had to cut off the old brass elbow fitting with a dremel tool so I could  get the finger strainer out. Now I have been looking to get the whole assembly back together. I cannot seem to find a swivel fitting that will allow me to use the original finger strainer (3/8 NPT). I need a 1/4 NPT male swivel 90 degree low profile. Or some sort of banjo fitting (already tried the ANDAIR BANJO FITTING FML 1/4"). This is too long. I only have 1.25" from the wing tank to the inside of the first rib. What are the rest of you guys using after the tank have been installed?

				Kirk, my kit came with a straight fitting to attach to the finger strainer.  The manual says to notch the rib to clear the fitting and fuel line.  You will probably have to notch the butt rib also.  picture attached.

				Kirk,
               You can use a street elbow in the finger strainer pointed  whichever way you want then put a straight male fitting in the elbow. Worked for  me. Available at your local hardware store.

  Interesting problem and parallels ours exactly.  I  am helping a friend finish  a previously started Model V with the center  wing tank ports.   The previous builder had done some interesting  things, which included an electric fuel gauge which required, at least in his  mind covering most of the first rib with thin plywood which seriously limits  access.  He then mounted a half inch bushing which he glued into the  tank, then a 3/8" finger strainer with integral straight hose barb.  There  was no way to attach hose to the hose barb and fold the wings, or unfold them,  for that matter.
   
  What came of it is a polycarbonate doubler glued to the  bottom fabric in the area of the outlet, then cutting the fabric and removing  the threaded parts one by one and after some hairy moments finally got the large  bushing out without damaging the tanks.  I got the larger finger strainers  and as you find, discovered that there is not the ideal elbow fitting out there  in the real world.  I did find a couple of 5/16" hose low profile elbows,  but they were in 1/4" thread size and there was absolutely no room for another  bushing.  What I finally did is chuck the elbow in a lathe and cut off the  threads, then chuck a 3/8" bushing in the lathe and bore a hole to math the  thread free elbow and sweat solder them together.  We now have a low  profile elbow with threads that match the finger strainer.  Thinking about  it, I realize I will have to modify a wrench if we ever want to remove the  hardware to check the finger strainer.  Picture attached.

				My instructions called for making a notch in the rib which I did and  
 a straight 1/4 NPT fitting clears the rib perfectly, and screws right  
 into the 3/8 NPT finger strainer. About 980 hours on this setup, when  
 I decided to add front ports to the tanks (13 gallon original  
 Kitfox), which I did by building up the front area with fiberglas,  
 drilling and tapping to 3/8 NPT, and installing the usual finger  
 strainer and another straight fitting, albeit at a *slight* up-from- 
 horizontal angle to clear the rib in that area. Another 100 hours on  
 the combined 4-port system, and no problems.
