Jack,
I have the same problem with my XL relative to running out of elevator trim
with flaps. In flight, I use very little trim and most of the time my trim
setting is pretty close to neutral so I do not want to change the incidence
of my horiz stab.. I automatically trim full nose up as I lower flaps and
still have to hold back pressure. I believe the solution is to go to a full
span trim tab as per the latest Zodiac dwgs.

I was thinking about adding a tab on the tab. That would be a tab riveted to the bottom of the exsisting tab that would stick out another inch or so past the trailing edge of the elevator. Anybody done this yet.Jack in Los Osos Ca

Dear List,

I had the first XL on the PFA register here in England last year and had =
a problem with lack of nose up pitch trim when using full flap, I have =
the almost full span trim tab fitted. A friend who also had the same =
problem taped an extension the trailing edge of his trim tab increasing =
it's effective are by about two thirds and this did the trick. The PFA =
where not happy with mod and refused to approve it.

The fix they came up with at the factory (CZAW) was to connect the =
control yoke to the flap operating shaft with an arm and spring, this =
pulls on the stick as the flaps are operated. The nose down pitch has =
not been cured completely but only slight back pressure is required.

Please feel free to e-mail me if you need more info at =

All the best,

Norman Butcher
