When unrolling the tape hold it with your thumb on top of the tape roll
and a couple of your fingers in the hole. Apply enough pressure so that
the tape comes off the roll at a shallow angle. With a little practice
you can even remove tape from a roll that has badly nicked and dented
sides. Just another one of those high tech skills an aircraft builder
has to learn. (Keep the sides of that tape roll in good condition.)
